When the topic is Brooklyn Hip-hop, PlexoBoy Pesh should be in the conversation. Since its introduction to Hip-Hop, Brooklyn has birthed and bred some of NYC’s most cultured Pearls. born in Bronx, each borough of NYC has had its share of influential MCs with their own unique style – but Brooklyn has always been a cut above the rest.
Growing up on Gates and Nostrand, Pesh earned comparison to the bully and bravado of the menacing characters acclaimed actor Joe Pesci played so well, for him this wasn’t a movie. Pesh used rap as a therapy to express love, trauma, knowledge, and the life he inherited from the streets. Influenced by artists like B.I.G, DMX, Jay Z, Jadakiss, Lil Wayne, and Fabolous; Pesh made it his duty early on to find his own voice by walking on hard-hitting street anthems like “Imma Soldier” while signed to the Hustle Hard imprint, to rap battle victories on the block.
Pesh’s illicit ways caught up to him in 2008 when he ran into trouble with the law. Incarcerated repeatedly for weapons, drugs, and robbery charges – he was released in 2019. Pesh is giving the art another shot, this time with the same intensity he so heavily gave to the streets. Working on his first EP, he is already being recognized for his penmanship and artistic ability. His debut single, “Thicker Than Water,” produced by SayquanD, has become a regular on Dash Radio’s – The City with Heavy Hitter Dj Fat Fingaz. Not long ago he previewed “Aiming 4Da Crown” on eOne Urban’s A&R Mondays showcase via IG Live where Ivy Rivera gave great feedback, the comments lit up with rave reviews, much love, and fire emoji.
