As his release date nears, Tekashi 6ix9ine is becoming more and more restless by the day.
The New York rapper wants to be removed from prison immediately due to the coronavirus pandemic, despite his August release.
In a letter written by Lance Lazzaro, Tekashi’s attorney, which was obtained by TMZ, he requested that a judge grant him early release, citing health concerns that put him at higher risk of contracting the coronavirus while behind bars, which could be even more serious because of his asthma. Lazzaro also revealed that his client was diagnosed with bronchitis and sinusitis late last year and was even hospitalized for treatment. In addition, Lazzaro claimed that the rapper has recently experienced shortness of breath, but was permitted from seeing a doctor behind bars.
This is not Tekashi’s first attempt at getting an even earlier release date. However, this time his reasoning may be viable. The coronavirus is known to spread quickly in crowded spaces, in particular, correctional facilities. Recently, disgraced filmmaker Harvey Weinstein, who was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape, tested positive for COVID-19. According to officials, it is likely that he was carrying the virus during his transfer from Rikers Island to New York’s Wende Correctional Facility. The 68-year-old former Hollywood heavyweight is currently in isolation at the maximum-security prison.
With the rapid spread of the disease, we may be seeing Tekashi 6ix9ine sooner than we thought.
