It’s been a minute since island gal Rihanna has brought us an album. Not to worry, she’s doing us one better and bringing us a highly-anticipated documentary. Peter Berg who has directed the film has revealed this along with some other cool details about the upcoming documentary. Amazon is set to release the project summer 2021. This is great news considering she doesn’t seem to be budging when it comes to another album.
When asked by the entertainment website Collider, Berg had this to say.
“The Rihanna doc is something I’ve been working on with her for almost four years now. Amazon’s gonna release it summer next year, sometime hopefully around the Fourth of July. It’s been a really epic journey, the past four years with her.” He added, “She’s a remarkable woman, who everyday seems to grow and branch out into new businesses and new endeavors at a rate that it’s almost hard to keep up with.”
The project was set to come out sooner, but due to the Fenty beauty tycoon’s busy schedule it’s been pushed back to the coming year. The documentary will focus on the mega star entrepreneurship, singing and acting career. As it’s been in development for years fans will have unparalleled access into the singer’s life that we’ve never seen before. It’s been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Amazon has purchased rights worldwide for the documentary for $25 million. We will also be exposed to 1,200 hours of footage.
Berg and the pop princess are familiar with one another after working on the 2012 sci-fi film Battleship. I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’m just excited to see RiRi come across my screen again. Who knows, we may see an album in the future. She told Access Hollywood the below statement.
“It’s probably gonna be sooner than my fans think, but I’m just gonna leave that alone.”
