In an episode of Taraji P Henson’s new show, Peace Of Mind, she sits with Pop Smoke’s older brother, Obasi Jackson. The two discuss the sudden death of the rising star, and how it’s affected him.
“It was a lot of threats on his life……and I didn’t think anybody would do that,” Obasi Jackson says starting off the sneak peek video. Pop Smoke was fatally shot on Feb.19, 2019. The Brooklyn rapper was in Los Angeles when his life was suddenly taken. “It’s mind boggling to me that someone would let a superstar go out with no security,” says Jackson.
Two adults and two teenagers were charged with the murder of Pop Smoke. According to Prosecutors, Corey Walker and Keandre Rodgers killed the rapper in the midst of a robbery at a Hollywood Hills home. A 17-year old and 15-year old was also charged, but identities kept confidential due to age.
“I won’t be able to hug my brother again, tell him I love him again, I won’t be able to see him,” says Jackson. He reveals that he was able to talk to his brother one last time, that Sunday before his death. Jackson shares that he expressed his love for his younger sibling before he departed. He’s content with knowing that his brother left the world knowing he was loved by him.
