Lauryn Hill Earns Diamond Award For ‘Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’

Lauryn Hill is the first female in hip-hop to obtain a Diamond award from RIAA. She earned the award for her album Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. She released the album back in 1998. Since then, the album has been certified 10x platinum.
Lauryn Hill posted her accomplishment on Instagram with the caption “Pretty wonderful to know that this album continues to bring happiness to people.”
Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was Hill’s debut solo album. She released it through Ruffhouse and Columbia Records. The R&B album touched base on the current experiences she had during that time. It varied from her pregnancy to issues she had with her former group Fugees.
Over the years, Miseducation of Lauryn Hill obtained accomplishments aside from the RIAA. Rolling Stone ranked the album #10 on the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The album also earned its way to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.
