Christian Combs now known as “King Combs” has really had a breakout year in music this year. Landing a placement on the late Pop Smoke’s “Diana” (Remix) which appears on his Shoot For The Stars Aim At The Moon album, Combs has his foot on the gas. Following the recent release of the “Diana” Remix video alongside Calboy, the Los Angeles rapper is back with a heartfelt visual for his “Legacy” single.
To pay homage to is late mother former supermodel Kim Porter, the rapper has images and video clips displayed throughout this visual of him, his mother, dad (Diddy) and twins sisters whom he shares the same mom and dad with. His love for his mother is so deep and he reminds viewers that she is someone that can never be replaced. No matter, the love of a mother never dies just because their physical body is not here.
Some bars that that lend more insight into Combs’ raw emotions abut his misfortune include “lost my moms last year took the biggest l, separating my path with a different trail I prevail, anything just to see my favorite lady, built for everything, that’s how my pops raised me.” These lyrics appear in the first minute of “Legacy”. The young superstar can be seen walking through a trail of red rose petals, as a clip of his mother kissing him as a baby appears on an old fashion television set. This moment creates a nostalgic feel making you take step back in the 90’s era before social media and blogs.
Beyond the raw emotion, his high fashion sense is more than noticeable. This makes sense as he is a model and has graced the runway of many high end fashion designer showcases. Directed by Roomdy Poulard, Combs does an excellent job of creating a video that is a reflection of him, his progression as an artist, his compassion for his mom and support of the BLM movement as he takes a knee in solidarity with Colin Kapernick .
