Jay-Z Becomes Lead Nominee for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Rap God Jay-Z has been nominated to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The list was released earlier this morning and includes the creme de la creme of music. Nominees include Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Foo Fighters, Todd Rundgren, LL Cool J and more. The nominees that end up with the most votes will be announced in May and then later inducted during the fall. I know some are wondering why Jay hasn’t been nominated in the past, but there are levels to it. There are eligibility requirements that have to be met before being nominated for such an honor. Honorees become eligible after 25 years of the release of their first album. Recipients also have to have the influence as well as significance of the artists’ contributions to the development of rock and roll.

Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z & Tina Turner

It’s been 25 years since the release of Hovs first album Reasonable Doubt and lord knows he’s earned his spot as a respected nominee. Others like LL have been nominated several times and a third time for Chaka Chan. This has been the most racially diverse group since 1996. All of the artist nominated have done and created remarkable work over the past years. From creating timeless music to seeking out other business ventures that influence the way we live and think. There’s no doubt in my mind that Jay will have any issues getting votes and solidifying his spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Now that the nominations are in, fans are able to vote for their favorite nominees at http://rockhall.com. Happy voting!
