South Carolina artist DC Baby releases his highly anticipated new EP titled “New Money”, presented by Baby Muzik Group. Produced entirely by Mantiz for The Block Symphony, DC Baby showcases his diverse talent, and relatable messages, suiting himself up for a rising career.
With his sound deeply rooted with classic southern roots, it’s only right that DC Baby’s music and sound mirrors the life he has experienced. Starting his love for music at a very young age,it was while living in Hinesville, Georgia that DC decided to take his music to another level and started writing and recording under the moniker DC baby. During his career, DC has won first place in the Coast to Coast artist showcase, first place in the DEF JAM “Who’s Got Next” showcase, as well as secured an opening slot for such acts as Jacquees, Yella Beezy, and most recently Megan Thee Stallion.
Now adding “New Money” to his catalog, DC Baby is well on his way to seeing major successes in music. The new body of work finds DC Baby giving us catchy bars that are sure to capture the attention of many listeners, and Hip Hop Weekly had the chance to catch up to DC to find out a little more about the artist. HHW: First, we need you to introduce yourself to the readers who may not be familiar with DC Baby. Tell us a little about yourself.
DC Baby: I’m DC Baby out of Hinesville, GA. Music has always been a part of my life I started rapping at 13, Recorded my first single at 15 I moved to South Carolina around age 17 and things kind of took off from there. I started rapping with a group of friends we called ourselves southern prodigy we held the scene down for a couple years before I decided to try the solo Avenue.
HHW: When did you first fall in love with music, and how long have you been actively pursuing your dreams in music?
DC Baby: I fell in love with music Young probably around three or four been actively pursuing a music career since the age of 18, that’s when I started getting serious about it.
What differentiates you from other artist?My east coast flow mixed with my southern drawl. My sound is what stands out.
HHW: Are there any artists currently or before you that musically inspire you? If so, who and why?
DC Baby: T.I. and Pastor Troy. I relate more to TI’s lyrics and Pastor Troy’s sound. I connect with both of them.
HHW: What motivates DC Baby in and out of the booth?
DC Baby: My kids and my family.
HHW: What are three things about you that would shock the public?
DC Baby: I don’t drink, I love country music I think Kenny Chesney is dope and I can cook my ass off. (Or I like to cook what is appropriate).
HHW: What do you feel you contribute to the culture as an artist?
DC Baby: Originality and authenticity I feel that I can bridge the gap between the young and old generation.
HHW: How do you balance your career with your home life? Family?
DC Baby: I would say my family and career go hand in hand because I’m managed by my mother and my sister. We grind this out together and my sons are always with me.
HHW: So what’s next for DC Baby musically? 2020, 2021 Goals.. lay ‘em out.
DC Baby: Sky is the limit! I’m looking to do more collaborations and features. I have a new project I’m looking to drop at the end of 2020. 2021 continue to build my brand make dope content, looking for artists to build with my label BabyMuzikGroup. Make BabyMuzikGroup worldwide.
