HHW Catches Up With West Coast Artist & Entrepreneur Epademik

HHW: Introduce yourself to our readers, let them know your name and where you’re from Why did you start to do music?

Epademik: My moniker is Epademik aka Whitey Dorner. I am a Gardena, CA. native. I started my journey into the music realm by freestyling just for fun then got into battle rapping in part due to my older brother doing it. The natural progression was to elevate into songwriting & recording.

HHW: What do you do with your free time?

Epademik: To be honest, I don’t really have a lot of “Free Time”. I am consistently working whether its for my businesses or my music career. Time management is truly key for me.

HHW: Have you had another career that wasn’t in the music industry?

Epademik: I own a graphics/sign business “Union Sign Co. since 2005 And previous to that I was a Purchase Agent for multi-million dollar construction company.

HHW: When did you know that it was actually going to be your career?

Epademik: When I started accumulating fans and making money. That’s when I realized I could have a career in music.

HHW: If you could get advice from any artist in the industry, who would it be and why?

Epademik: I don’t think I would go the artist route for advice but I would rather pick the brain of Berry Gordy Or Jimmy Iovine. The executives behind the scenes that make things move.

HHW: What or who influences your music?

Epademik: Musically I grew up hearing a lot of Prince, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac & Ronnie Laws.

HHW: What’s the process of creating music for you?

Epademik: I always start out with a concept. Sometimes I will write to a specific beat. After I record my vocals I like to build the tracks around them. I always vibe on the initial mix then I go back and make adjustments to my lyrics and the music arrangements.

HHW: Has anyone helped you or guided you in getting your foot in the industry?

Epademik: To be brutally honest, No. I maneuvered and hustled my way through the music industry. You learn very early that people don’t care about you and your career path. All people want in the music industry is to make money off up & coming artists that are eager.

HHW: Have you ever released an album?

Epademik: Yes, my discography is very extensive. All my albums and singles are available on all digital retailers and streaming services.

HHW: If so, when did you release your album/albums?

Epademik: All my albums & singles have been released from 1998 to present.

HHW: Tell our readers what to look out for next from you?

Epademik: I am currently working on my next full length album that will be out beginning next year.

HHW: What differentiates you from other artists?

Epademik: My lyrical content is honest and intense. I don’t believe in fabricating stories to fake it til you make it tip of mentality.

HHW: Are you currently on any tours or have any future shows booked?

Epademik: My next show is Nov 24th at Club Bahia in Hollywood for OG Cuicide’s OG’s Are Forever concert.
