Ellen Degeneres kicks off season 18 premiere of her show, The Ellen Degeneres Show a little different this time around.
Degeneres spoke candidly about the investigation to her virtual audience.
“As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show, and then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened.”
She added: “I take that very seriously, and I want to say I am so sorry to the people that were affected. I know that I am in a position of privilege and power, and with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens at my show.”
Ellen continued to say that she “taking responsibility for what happens at my show.”
She also issued an apology to staff and anyone she has let down.
Previously reported over the summer that several current and former employees made harassment and racism claims. As a result of the WarnerBros investigation, two producers parted ways with The Ellen DeGeneres show.
