Cassidy Accasia is a new artist that you should be on the lookout for in 2021, as she is gearing up to release her debut single Rare. Something that she has been preparing for all her life. At a young age, she drew her inspiration from her parents.
“At four years or five years, I watched as my mom orchestrate her band rehearsals in the living room of our house. And inside her studio. I can remember wanting nothing more but to be handed the mic as if it were “my turn,” said Cassidy.
“My inspiration grew as I watched her be her boss as a fully functioning business owner with her band and a recording studio. As much time as we spent at the studio, it became our second home. So that made me feel like, “I can too.”
It was always a dream of hers growing up in Wetumpka, Alabama, to sing like her mother, Lisa Jackson.
“All I have ever wanted to do was sing like my momma,” Cassidy revealed.
Her parents Roland and Lisa Jackson, have bands of their own, and it was something that both individuals together and was something they made sure to instill into their daughter. Cassidy began her professional career at the age of 13. While traveling across the nation, she was able to perform and find her voice. Now, she is ready to make a name for herself as a solo act.
According to Cassidy, she grew up studying, “A full array of old school artists. I didn’t listen to a whole lot of new school around my parents, and that’s the reason people feel like I have an “old soul” till this day. From Chaka to Mary J, LTD, Shalamar, Guy, Cameo, SWV, Jodeci, ConFunkShun. The list is never-ending!”
Cassidy will be releasing her debut single Rare, highlighting her true rhythm and blues, soul persona, she shared when asked by Hip Hop Weekly.
“Rare is a love song with a classic, old-school R&B musicality to it. I love this song because it embodies my true rhythm and blues, soul persona. It’s about experiencing a love that’s rare that must be cherished. I hope my supporters love this song as much as I do.”
The single will not have any features on the project, but it was produced by Todd Perkins, who happens to be her uncle. When asked if this would be a part of an album, Cassidy said it had been considered, but she is focused solely on the single.
Cassidy is also celebrating her recent graduation from a historically black college, Alabama State University, where she is renowned for her talents as a dancer, rapper, host, theatre, and singer.
