Cardi B gave her fans a small glimpse into what’s to come on her sophomore album.
On Monday, Cardi took to Twitter to share a quick 3-second snippet of an undisclosed Wheezy-produced track. She can be heard rapping “Shake, earthquake,” before the snippet ends abruptly.
Cardi has made no secret about being in album mode. This could explain her apparent absence from social media as of late.
During her recent Vogue cover story, she spoke about the pressures she feels regarding the follow-up to her Grammy award winning debut, Invasion of Privacy.
“So it’s scary because it’s like, now you got to top your first album, and then it’s like, damn. I wonder if people are gonna relate to the new things, to the new life, to the new shit that I gotta talk about now,” she revealed in the magazine.
She continued, opening up about how she will keep up with the current musical climate.
“Music is changing. I feel like people just wanna hear twerk-twerk music, but it’s like, is that just a phase? I probably need a sexy song. I need a lot of turn-up songs. I need a slow song, a personal song. And those are harder for me—I always need help when it comes to talking about my feelings. It’s hard for me to be soft, period. So it’s a lot of thoughts, a lot of pressure. It’s really like a job.”
While the process of outshining her first album may prove cumbersome, her sophomore project is the primary focus of the 27-year-old rapper and wife at the moment.
“My album is on my mind 24/7.” she told Billboard in November.
While the piano encrusted snippet may be short, it left fans screaming for the release of the full track.
