Beyoncé Signs New Publishing Deal With Sony/ATV

Beyoncé and Jay-Z follow Rihanna, who also made the transition to Sony/ATV last fall. In 2019, former DJ turned music exec Jon Platt took over as chairman and CEO of Sony Music company last year. The decision for Queen Bee to head over to Sony/ATV did not come as a surprise, as Platt has long been instrumental in The Carter’s career.
Jay-Z referred to Platt his “brother” during the annual City of Hope Spirit of Life dinner in October 2018, where the exec was the honoree.
“This man has worked his way up from a Denver DJ to be the highest-ranking black executive,” Hov added.
Beyoncé also lent kind words to the Platt, saying “most people in this industry lead with their ego, but you lead with your heart.”
Sony/ATV serves as the world’s largest music publisher, holding millions of copyrights as the largest music publisher in the world, including that of Marvin Gaye and Taylor Swift.
The Queen stings again with yet another top tier money move.
