The Harlem rapper announced that Yams Day will indeed go on this year. The show will be hosted virtually on this coming Monday, Jan.18th.
For those who don’t know, Yams Day is an annual celebration that was created in memory of the late A$AP member, A$AP Yams. He was responsible for putting the A$AP Mob together. In respect for him, hundreds of fans pour in every year for the concert. Last year’s show included performances from Pop Smoke, Nav, 2 Chainz, YG and more.
It seems the A$AP Mob is doing things a little differently this year. In an Instagram video post, A$AP Rocky gathers some of New York’s most viral comedians and creates a Yams Day promotion. One of the hosts in the video mentions that they’ll be giving out “Yammys” this year. That will be their own version of the Grammys.
Last week, the A$AP Mob foreshadowed the announcement of Yams Day. They posted a group picture alongside Tatianna Paulino, mother of A$AP Yams. They captioned it “GOT SOMETHING SPECIAL ON THE WAY. #YAMMY GANG”
